Chartered Accountants Amongst Most Trusted Professions in Scotland
A new survey has revealed that 87% of senior business and finance leaders trust chartered accountants “to do the right thing” — ranking them ahead of scientists and engineers (84%), doctors (83%), academics (70%), and lawyers (65%).
This marks a 12-point rise in trust since 2023, and exceeds the levels reported among chartered accountants in England (84%) and Wales (77%).
The research also found that 88% of respondents view chartered accountants as vital in helping businesses navigate emerging challenges, while 72% rely on them for strategic guidance.
Ainslie van Onselen, Chair of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW), commented:
“Trust across many institutions is becoming more fragile, yet this data shows that chartered accountants continue to buck the trend.
In a world shaped by AI, misinformation, and growing demands for accountability, our profession stands out — not only for technical expertise, but as a trusted source of ethical leadership and reliable data.”
